Garruchos Agropecuaria, through its hut Los Murmullos, became the first Argentine company to export frozen embryos to genetics genetics Aberdeen Angus, a meat-producing breed. This was the first step in a technology transfer agreement that includes the construction of a genetic center in Yinchuan, capital of Ningxia province, in conjunction with Chinese firm Shenlong. Both companies, Shenlong and Garruchos Agropecuaria, were associated under the name of Garruchos China with the aim of contributing to the genetic improvement of Chinese cattle, from selected embryos exported from our country.
“China needs to increase its meat production and the quality of its livestock. After several visits to Argentina, we were chosen to lead this project that has two very positive aspects: the export of high added value products and the training of human resources by Argentine specialists in bovine genetics, “said Hugo Sigman, head of Cabaña Los Murmullos and CEO of Grupo Insud.
The genetic center will have an area of 30 hectares, will mean an investment of U.S. $ 10 million, and will be ready by 2019. The cooperation project began in 2015 with a first export of 1,000 frozen Angus embryos from Los Murmullos, aimed at improving the Meat production of the Asian country. Since then, the cottage has also shipped 15,000 doses of brood semen.
